Personal Care Services

Personal Care Services are non-medical services performed by a trained and certified Personal Care Assistant (PCA) in your home. Alaskans who experience a disability or need temporary care and who are Medicaid qualified can receive PCA services. We offer this service to aging Alaskans, disabled adults, or anyone over the age of 18 who is in need of short or long-term care in the home.

If you think you need PCA services but are not Medicaid-qualified, contact us by phone at (907) 561-1600 and we can help you to determine if you qualify and can assist you in applying.

Services Include:

  • Personal Hygiene (Bathing and Dressing)

  • Mealtime Assistance

  • Light Housekeeping

  • Medication Reminders (We can not dispense medication)

  • Companionship

  • Assistance with Running Errands (Shopping)

  • Transportation to and from Appointments

If you are in need of a PCA, there are two options for care:

Agency Based Good Samaritan will provide you with a PCA who works for us as a full- or part-time employee. We train, supervise and hire the PCA who will be working with you. Our goal is to match the right assistant with you, who will offer consistent and compassionate care.

Consumer Direct – You select, supervise and hire your own PCA to provide the services you need. Good Samaritan will provide the administrative support such as handling payroll and worker’s compensation and unemployment insurance for the PCA.
